A special day in Tuscany – Florence, Vinci and…

Leonardo's birth place

Florence and tours in Tuscany:

Last year I had the chance to travel to Sardinia, Florence, Vinci and Anchiano, Lake Como, Milan, and Bologna.

As I’ve mentioned before I’m a huge fan of Europe but there are certain countries I enjoy more to spend holiday meaning that I’m staying longer than a week.

Florence is very expensive but it’s worth a short break or more if you can afford. There are many tours, exhibitions, museums and fantastic restaurants. And people in wheelchairs are welcome. Glad I saw that. Besides you can shop till you drop or easily escape to Rome or Milan in a high-speed train.

Plan it carefully otherwise you’ll run off time. I saw mainly tourists from the USA, South Korea and Brazil and Israel however people come from all over wishing to take the best of Italy.  There are also many British citizens living there. For fans of art, Florence is a bit of heaven. Atlantic Emotions shared the best sights, tour offers, and prices.

Follow the Genius’ tracks in his hometown by going to Vinci – Take the train to Florence and then a taxi to discover Leonardo da Vinci’s places, right in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. You can admire a landscape very similar to the one depicted by Leonardo in his most famous paintings from the terrace of the Conti Guidi Castle. A wonderful view over the Montalbano hills which was a source of great inspiration for Leonardo. A full day is needed if you go by train and try to catch a taxi as it can get a bit weird if you take the bus instead of a taxi! My best advice for travelling in Italy

Italy has great connections by speedy train at Trenitalia. If you buy the tickets a few minutes before departure you can get great deals. It’s not cheap but it’s comfortable though. Besides they have plenty low-cost airlines. I did Italy as a backpacker, by car, by train, I’ve used the ferry to Croatia and still there’s a bit of the South to be explored and I’m looking forward to do so. I rank Italy as one as my favourite destinations. Good transports, the mountains, the Mediterranean, the food which is always difficult to substitute for the Portuguese, the language, the Opera and the fashionable people.

Verona, Padua, Veneza, Lake Garda, Milan, Lake Como,The Vatican City, Rome, Anchiano – Vinci, Florence and Sardinia are some of the cities I’ve visited and lived. On my bucket list are Naples and the whole Italian South.

The Italians know how to sell their product and I also admire them for that reason. A good example is Sardinia which however remain a few months without tourists and Sardos jobless. For hotels at “La Maddalena Island“, take a look here.
