From the main train station of Santa Apolónia one can easily walk to some fantastic sites.

You also have the underground (blue line), taxis, buses, tourist buses and tuk-tuks! I keep saying that Lisbon is one of the most beautiful Capital Cities in Europe, with the best nights out after Madrid, the best coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. A full field of heritage Portuguese people will help you in any circumstances either in Portuguese or English.

If you’re willing to take a train somewhere else Google CP Rede-Expresso. Paying with PayPay is cheaper. You may get great discounts if you buy online within 5 days in advance.

I enjoy taking the busses. They are cheaper and have more offer. Also, you can also buy tickets online and get a discount. After booking you’ll get the link and you must pay in at an ATM in less than 30 minutes!!! Google Rede Expresso.

Now I’m going to write a bit about the underground. I had great fun helping out tourists over the last 7 years. An essential instructions guide is needed to use it in the capital.

Regarding hotels, I’d like to recommend two with very different rates: the Ritz Four Seasons and Hotel Roma. If you have no more than a few hours, at least visit the following sights and areas:

Chiado in Lisbon (blue line)

Chiado in Lisbon (blue line)

#1 Bairro Alto District

#2 Chiado, take the chance to visit São Roque Museum. If booked you’ll be guided by an excellent professional. This museum belongs to SCML, a Portuguese institution with more than 500 years, created by D. Leonor to support the poorest in Lisbon.

The ‘Museu do Chiado’ is one of the world’s earliest museums of contemporary art. It was renovated in 1994 after the fire in Chiado in 1998. At that time I was there and tragic to be seen.

#3 “A Vida Portuguesa” sells genuine and touching products of original Portuguese creation such as toiletries, stationery books, jewelry, food, and handicrafts. Located in Chiado: Rua Anchieta 11, Chiado

#4 Hop aboard the famous no. 28 tram

#5 Visit the splendid Jerónimos Monastery, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site (no picture can describe…) and the Tower of Belém.

#6 Visit both Lapa and Madragoa District.

#7 Take a walk down Avenida da Liberdade on your way out The Ritz Four Seasons Hotel. Usually, Lisbon is safe.
