The Palace of Wheels is a luxury train service linking Delhi and Agra with a number of historic cities in Rajasthan.

Following its success, a number of other similar services were in preparation. The first of these, the Royal Orient, entered service in 1995.

Hawa Mahal: Jaipur’s Palace of the winds (Hawa Mahal) was built in 1799 from local sandstone. The women of the court would sit behind the screened lattice windows to enjoy the cooling winds and watch processions go by. Above: Jagmandir Island Palace on Lake Pichola in Udaipur was built as a royal pleasure palace.
